WACS Basics

WACS (pronounced "wax!") is a simple score used in the Blender Funder program to make it easy to onboard into healthy living without complex tests, devices nor software. It uses four real-time health inputs that deter and reverse disease for the average person, and have a sweet side effect of making you feel superhuman. WACS requires no equipment, no office visits, nor software subscriptions to measure. The inputs and weights are below, and are indexed to your personal health needs:

Water (20%)

Activity (20%)

Calories (40%)

Sleep (20%)

0.5oz per lb of

body weight

30 - 60

minutes

95% nutrient-dense foods, within target calories and tight meal span

7-8 hours and

go to bed early

WACS Daily

"Health" is a conundrum for most people, but that is solved with the simplicity of WACS shown visually on a 24-hour schedule. The daily schedule forces you to be accountable for your actions; otherwise, getting to an ideal score does not work. Pursuing health is fought mainly in the kitchen and throughout your daily routines. Unfortunately, Americans currently score very low on these measures:

Now let's take a look at an ideal WACS schedule that optimizes inputs for superhuman health and disease resistance!

This is a reference schedule that very close to my personal schedule, but you need to adapt it to a routine that works for your life. For example, some people like to eat only 2 meals instead of 3 to make it easier to limit calories, extend their nightly fast and minimize their digestion window. I have found that it's far more important though to eat high nutrient dense foods than have a tight meal span, but if you can do both it's really great. Whatever your schedule, you desperately need to stay away from the American averages!

Note that I am not a medical doctor, and any radical change in your diet should be discussed with your doctor. In particular, if you are on medication or treating a severe disease, in particular if you are on high blood pressure medication, you should adopt this diet over several weeks as it’s possible your blood pressure can drop too quickly with this approach to eating. I suggest consulting with your doctor to inform them of your intention to treat your disease with diet, and slowly reduce your medication under supervision.

Why WACS?

The current health system measures health in myopic scientific measures like triglycerides, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels. These are important to understanding human biology and tracking health over time, especially if you are sick. For some people, these biomarkers are exactly what they need to objectively understand they are unhealthy, and this is a good thing because it's the kick in the butt they need to change things! But, they are not the answer or path to health!

Drawbacks of traditional health measures designed to feed you pharmaceutical drugs:

  • Unsuccessful: Above all, using these measures has not produced good results, as discussed on the "Why Blenders?" page. If we continue to use these myopic measures and offer routine (drug-based care), then we will continue to have a system disconnected from the actual things we can do to affect our health. Health will continue to decline, and costs will continue to rise.

  • Myopic: Too specific and focused on individual organ manifestations of much larger cellular dysfunction. For example, statins are prescribed for high LDL cholesterol to avoid heart disease, attempting to fix a downstream symptom of poor nutrition rather than focusing on the root cause of the high reading. Cellular dysfunction manifests in different ways in different people, so without treating the root, these measures chase symptomatic (noticeable) manifestations, known as chronic diseases.

  • Lagging: Point-in-time and lagging indicators that are not directly causal to your daily actions. How exactly do you affect high cholesterol without drugs? If you don't understand, then why is your doctor measuring it?

  • Tough to measure: No normal person understands them or can measure them without special testing equipment. Why would I care about a health measure unless I can affect it daily in my normal routine, where health is actually determined?

Benefits of a new "WACS" score designed to maximize your health-span by using what your body is designed for:

  • Successful: Above all, using these measures shifts you to a healthy-input style of measurement that forces healthy habits and has immediate and impactful results. If you are doubtful or disagree, it means you are either profiting from sick care system or you simply haven't fully committed to the routine to experience the results - it's that simple. Or, in some cases, you have a disease that is just too far developed to recover from, in which case, you should still adopt the healthy eating to nurture your body in it’s diseased state.

  • Broad: Boad measures that apply to everyone regardless of your current state of health. It turns out we are all humans, and for the most part, we all need mostly the same types of inputs (although there are certainly variations and exceptions).

  • Real-time: They are real-time indicators directly affected by your daily actions. You can affect your health right now and you don't have to wait for several months for a drug to "take effect”, nor experience any “side effects.” Don't you want immediate results without health risks?

  • Easy to measure: They are simple enough for a child to understand, and you can measure them anywhere with no equipment. Because of this, YOU are the only one that profits from your health! â€‹
